Urban Fountains and Furniture were successful in their tender to manufacture and supply the furniture range for the new Burleigh Oceanway upgrade on the Gold Coast. The furniture suite – manufactured for the GCCC’s exclusive use – consists of 9 GCCC Custom designed picnic tables, 21 bench seats and 12 seats.

The Gold Coast City Council has rigid standards of manufacture that were to be adhered to during the fabrication process to ensure that the end product was of the highest quality. Due to the extreme coastal weather conditions, the Stainless Steel framework required particular careful preparation to prevent the risk of dulling and tea staining that is so commonly seen in coastal areas.

The timber work was profile cut to GCCC design drawings to represent the surfing nature of the Gold Coast and surrounding beaches. The timber was carefully prepared and pre treated to prevent tannin staining from the Kwila Hardwood and then triple coated with an oil based protective treatment.

The result is a stunning suite of furniture manufactured to the highest quality that will be enjoyed by the many visitors who frequent the Gold Coast in the years to come.
